MFT Color Challenge #106

Happy Friday, everyone! Today's card is for the latest MFT Color Challenge.  This color palette is pretty fall-like, but since tomorrow is December 1st and there is snow on the ground, a Fall card just didn't seem right.  Good 'ole Mother Nature is messing with my head!

Here are the colors:

...and here is my card:

The dots on the background were created using a stencil and embossing paste onto a panel of Neenah Desert Storm card stock.  I really like the texture you get with embossing paste. Even though this stencil was made for a snow look, I just was just going for some polka dots....

If you've never participated in a card challenge before, it really is a great way to streamline your creative process.  Sometimes, I really feel overwhelmed with the amount of "stuff" that I have in my craft room. (said probably no one ever).  Having some parameters of a color palette or card sketch to work within can really help to narrow down choices.  Also, it forces me to use color combinations that I normally would not choose to put together or use supplies that I would normally overlook.  Give it a shot, you might just get hooked, too!

Have a great weekend and thank you for stopping by!

Black & White Stripes 6x6 paper pack - My Favorite Things

MFT Sketch Challenge #412

Now that Thanksgiving is over, it's so great to be out of the kitchen and back into my craft room.  My happy place!

Today's card is for the latest My Favorite Things sketch challenge.  Here is the sketch...

.....and here is my card:

I've really been itching to use this stamp & die set from MFT (Trio of Trees).  I really like the modern look of the geometric trees paired with the non-traditional Christmas colors.  It's nice to stray from the traditional red and green once in a while.

The trees were die cut 12x.  Each tree is stacked 3 times for a little bit pop of dimension so they are not so flat on the card. With the "dotty" background and the patterns on the trees, stacking helped to visually pull the trees away from the background a bit.

Lots of MFT products used for this one! All supplies are listed below.

MFT Color Challenge #104

Hello there! Here is my card for the latest MFT Color Challenge.  Since I am a little late to this challenge, as Halloween is already over, I had to come up with a way to use this color combo.  Not so easy, as the first thing that comes to mind when you see these colors is Halloween, right?

Here is my card...

I stamped 3 different flowers randomly on black card stock with embossing ink and embossed them in silver.  I dusted off my Twinkling h2o's and used them to paint the flowers.  Remember those???  I really like the way they show up on dark card stock.  The letters for smile are actually stacked 4-high and the top layer is coated with Wink of Stella, although you can't tell in the picture.

Thank you for stopping by!

Supplies Used:
All Smiles stamp set - MFT
All Smiles die set - MFT
Doodled Blossoms - MFT
Twinkling H2O's - Periwinkle and Orange Peel
Sterling embossing powder - Brutus Monroe
Wink of Stella
Misc. card stock
